Household Chores for Little Hands

Posted on

Lady Bug is getting bigger and is always wanting to help out around the house.  I’ve decided to designate a few things for her to do around the house that she will always be responsible for.  Currently, she always asks to help set the table.  I get the items she’ll need out of the cabinets and set them on the counter and she puts them in the appropriate places on the table.  She also helps clear the table off when we are done eating.

Another chore that I’m working with her on is emptying the bathroom trash cans.  The one in the kitchen is a little too big for her so we are starting with the smaller one .  Right now they are the size of a grocery bag so she can handle them with ease.  They need to be emptied every couple of days. In addition to the bathroom trash, she also wipes off the bathroom counters at the end of the night after we brush our teeth with a paper towel and then every other day with a disinfecting wipe.  She is always supervised when using the wipes.

We are keeping track of the household chores she does with a sticker chart.  She’s really excited about cleaning and helping around the house.  If you have any ideas about what she can do please feel free to comment below.

Lost Keys Can Be Avoided

Right as you walk in my house I have a table that sits in the entry way. On the table is a small wicker basket that I always put my keys in as soon as I walk in the door.  This simple little routine saves me a lot of time and headaches when it comes time to leave the house. I don’t have to spend forever searching for my keys or trying to remember where I may have seen them last.

Well, last night I got stuck in traffic and it took me a little longer than usual to get home.  I ran straight to the bathroom as soon as I arrived and didn’t stop for anything… not even to put my keys down.  Silly me took the keys and set them on the back of the toilet.  It took me a good thirty minutes to find them when I went to leave for work this morning.

Moral of the story… ALWAYS put your keys in the same place every day to prevent losing your mind.
