I was so surprised to be able to find the boss fender reverb pedal that Dave put on his Christmas gift wish list when I was shopping today! I was at the mall, and just happened to be walking past a store that sells musical instruments. I didn’t think I’d have any luck finding it, but I went straight to the employee standing behind the counter and asked him if he could help me. When I showed him the list, he told me that he only had one left in stock, and he took me right to it! Within just a couple of minutes the item was paid for, bagged, and I was on my way out the door to finish the rest of my shopping! I am so glad that gift is out of the way – I thought that was going to be the hardest one to find!
Christmas is supposed to be the season we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Instead it has become a season of pure craziness from ‘Black Friday’ on. I hate to shop on ‘Black Friday’ but I must admit you do find some awfully good bargains then.
I hated that they called the Friday after Thanksgiving ‘Black Friday’ but I found out why it’s called that. It’s the day when the stores hope to finally get out of the red and into the black or start showing a profit. That doesn’t sound so bad to me then.
Some idiots on Facebook are trying to convince people that “Black Friday” is called that because back in the days when slavery was legal, the slave markets had a big sale on slaves that day, trying to get them all sold before the cold weather set in. That’s ridiculous, and I found that to be very aggravating that people would start stupid rumors like that!
Easter was wonderful this year. Michelle was old enough to really enjoy it this year. They had a big Easter egg hunt at church and the child that found the golden egg, got a big surprise inside. It had a $20 bill in it and believe it or not, Michelle found it all by her little self. She came running to me saying “The Easter bunny laid a golden egg but there’s a dollar in it”. A dollar she said. I told her that it was a 20 dollar bill and she looked at me with this serious look on her face and said, “Well when are you taking me shopping?”
Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only one that buys a lot of things for myself during the Christmas season. During the course of the year, when people try to buy me gifts I usually ask them for a gift card. I hold on to them until the next Christmas Holiday shopping season, then I use them to buy things for myself! Naturally I do Christmas shopping to buy gifts for other people too, but it just seems smart to take advantage of the best sale prices when they are out there!
I guess that I’m not the only one that does that, however, because I saw on Facebook last night that Brenda was bragging that she has finished her ukulele classes and is planning to check out the good deals on ukuleles and buy herself a new ukulele! I hope she posts a YouTube video of herself playing a song so I can see her play! We live too far from each other for me to be able to visit with her in person.
I went to a local retail store and I couldn’t believe my eyes. They had about 5 times more Christmas stuff out than they did Halloween stuff and that even includes all the candy. Why is it that it seems every year they put the Christmas stuff out earlier and earlier? I guess they’re trying to catch people while they still have a little money hoping they’ll start their Christmas shopping early.
Well I don’t get my Christmas fund money until the middle of November so I couldn’t start shopping for Christmas if I wanted to yet. You know, I could start putting stuff on layaway. What am I saying? Here I was fussing and now I’m thinking of layaway. Shame on me!!
