Christmas Performance at Preschool

Ladybug had a Christmas performance at preschool this morning. She was soo cute. All of the girls and boys in her class were dressed as little elves. There were also angels, reindeer, and Santas in other classes.  Each child was adorable in the costumes they had made. I think my favorite were the painted on red noses that a few reindeer had. Each class sang a few popular Christmas songs including Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Ladybug did a fantastic job and smiled the entire time. I just wish I had a better seat to capture the special memory.

I tried to get to the school early but then I remembered a little bit before it was time to go that my phone was almost full and I wouldn’t be able to take any pictures or videos. I quickly plugged it in and started transferring all of the images to my computer so that I could make space for new pictures and videos from the performance.

It took 18 minutes to move it all which put me behind schedule. I ended up getting to the school about 5 minutes before the show started. That meant that I had a crappy seat and it was hard to see over every person in front of me with their cameras held high. Note to self, clean out the camera ahead of time and always plan to be at school shows at least 30 to 45 minutes early if I want to get a decent seat.

It’s Time to Deck the Halls

It’s time to pull out all of the the Christmas decorations.  I want to put up our tree and decorate the house this weekend and really get into the holiday spirit. I have a bunch of stuff that I got on sale after the holiday last year and have been waiting all year to get it out and enjoy it.

Ladybug is getting older and is really starting to get excited about Christmas and is already asking me about Santa. I should check out our local mall to see when Santa will be there so we can get her picture taken with him. Each year her reaction is a surprise but I’m guessing this year it will be one of glee.

I want to get her one of those chocolate advent calendars so we can count down the days to Christmas with a treat each day Notice I said we. I’ll be getting one for myself too. I deserve to have a tasty piece of chocolate too. I had them when I was a kid and thought it would be a nice tradition to do with her as well.

Maybe we’ll make a paper chain or a paper string of tree lights to count down the days too. I saw a cute idea the other day to make a string of lights out of colored construction paper and green ribbon.  The finished product looks exactly like a string of Christmas tree lights.  As each day passes you just cut off a light until the big day is here. I know Ladybug will have fun with whatever idea we chose to do.  I can’t wit for the weekend to be here.

Trying to have my creative voice in writing

I’ve never been great at drawing or painting, but something that my teachers always told me in school was that I was a good writer. Sometimes I wish that I had gone into writing as a profession but that’s much easier said than done. Well, now I’m going to try and pick it up again as a way to have some fun.

I’ve been doing my research to see exactly how I can really get started creative writing in the right way. While I was online looking for some tips, I ran across the site www.debtsettlementfamily.com. After I looked through it a little bit I decided to use it to help our family get out of debt. I want to set a good financial example for our kids and I think this would be a great step towards that.

I have found all kinds of great tips online about how to really get started with creative writing. I mentioned something about it to my kids, so they got me a nice little journal for Christmas. It was so sweet because they had really paid attention to know to get that. I plan to fill up that and many journals.

Silly and Strange Gifts

At work today people were sharing some of the gifts they received for Christmas.  Some of the gifts seemed thoughtful and even useful but some of them were down right crazy. One guy reported getting a coffee mug that looked like a toilet.  Really… who wants to drink anything out of a toilet?   Another person said she got a bacon scented air freshener for her car. She does love bacon but doesn’t want her car to smell like it. Speaking of bacon I saw that someone brought in bacon flavored candy canes.  I tried one out of curiosity.  It was nasty.  I like the traditional peppermint flavor much better.

Obviously people have different tastes when it comes to gift giving.  I appreciate the occasional gag gift.  However, I think if you’re going to spend a decent amount of money on someone it shouldn’t be on crap like a toilet bowel mug.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone!!!  I wanted to add a little Christmas cheer to my blog quickly since I’m still awake.  Santa just left our house and left a bunch of gifts under the tree for Lady Bug.  I know she’ll be really excited to see what she gets when she wakes up.  I saw him fill her stocking too!  He placed and orange at the bottom of the stocking to fill the toe just like he did in my stocking when I was a little girl.  I hope she appreciate this tradition as much as I did growing up.  I loved getting goodies but always liked to have a piece of fresh fruit in my stocking.

Santa gobbled up the cookies Lady Bug made for him and he took the carrots with him for the reindeer.  Lady Bug will be excited to see everything has been eaten off of her special Santa plate.  I better get some sleep before she wakes up and I get no sleep at all.  Merry Christmas everyone!
