Household Chores for Little Hands

Lady Bug is getting bigger and is always wanting to help out around the house.  I’ve decided to designate a few things for her to do around the house that she will always be responsible for.  Currently, she always asks to help set the table.  I get the items she’ll need out of the cabinets and set them on the counter and she puts them in the appropriate places on the table.  She also helps clear the table off when we are done eating.

Another chore that I’m working with her on is emptying the bathroom trash cans.  The one in the kitchen is a little too big for her so we are starting with the smaller one .  Right now they are the size of a grocery bag so she can handle them with ease.  They need to be emptied every couple of days. In addition to the bathroom trash, she also wipes off the bathroom counters at the end of the night after we brush our teeth with a paper towel and then every other day with a disinfecting wipe.  She is always supervised when using the wipes.

We are keeping track of the household chores she does with a sticker chart.  She’s really excited about cleaning and helping around the house.  If you have any ideas about what she can do please feel free to comment below.

House Warming Party

Tonight I visited one of my friend’s new home.  She was having a house warming party.  I brought her a basket filled with kitchen utensils and dish towels.  I found some dish towels that had grapes and vines on them since she is doing her entire kitchen with a  grape theme.  They were a cream colored with purple and green grapes strewn about.

Anyway, what really excited me while I was at her house was her bathroom.  It was absolutely gorgeous.  She has one of the most stunning vessel sinks made of earth toned marble.  Her counter tops where in a similar marble color.  The flooring was a breathtaking tile that I wish I had in my house.  It looked easy to clean and was probably heated too.  I’ve always thought heated floors were fancy.  All of the linens were a cream color with a brown accent stripe.  The whole room looked warm and inviting in it’s natural tones.

The rest of her house was just a beautiful as the bathroom, but I just couldn’t get enough of how lovely even the guest bathroom was.  Normally the big bucks are spent on the master bathrooms and not the guest baths.  She’s one lucky woman to have that gorgeous home.

Change Your Clocks for Daylight Savings Time

Two times a year we have to change our clocks here due to daylight savings time.  I don’t really mind it that much in the Fall when I get to sleep in for an extra hour.  But when it means I have to get up an hour earlier tomorrow morning, I’m not really too excited about it.

Thanks to technology I don’t have to change the clocks on my computer or even on my cable box. However, I still have to go around and manually change all of the rest of the clocks in my home. I have more clocks that I realized.  I have a clock in each of my bathrooms, alarm clocks in our bedrooms, the microwave, and a nice wall clock in the living room.  I even have one hanging outside on the patio.  The digital clocks took no time at all to reset, but the analog clocks required me to take them off the wall and rehang them.

Now that I’ve changed all of the clocks in my home, I have to remember to change the clock in the car before I go to church in the morning.  Clocks, clocks, everywhere sheesh!
