Plans for this weekend

Posted on

The weather is turning a bit cooler and the mums are blooming everywhere.  Even some of the trees are beginning to show signs of changing colors.  In other words, fall is here. Time to decorate for the season.

Michelle and I are planning a special weekend together.  First of all, we’re going to build a Scare Crow to put in the front yard.  With it I have a bail of straw that we’ll stick him into and put a beautiful mum on each side of him.  Mamaw grew some pumpkins in her garden so we’ll get a couple of them and put them in front of the bail of straw.

IF there are leaves falling, we’ll collect them and make a book of all the different leaves we find.  A more fall, we’ll keep collecting ones we don’t already have and colors of each we don’t have.  Then we’ll look up each type of leaf and label them so we can learn what the different trees are in our yard.  There’s a lot to learn about the different trees like which ones give off acorns or other types of nuts and seeds.

Halloween will be here before you know it so Michelle and I are going to take an old white sheet I have and make little ghosts to put in the dogwood tree when it gets closer to Halloween.  I don’t like putting out a bunch of ‘scary’ stuff but little ghosts aren’t what I call scary.  Anyway, we’re going to have a fun and relaxing weekend together, at home, this weekend.  Hope you have a good one too.

Michelle started school

I signed Michelle up for pre-school.  She started Monday.  She loves it.  I’m really glad too because I was so afraid she wouldn’t since she’s been with her great-grandmother since she was born.  Mamaw used to run a state registered day care and has taught Michelle all kinds of stuff.  She’s really smart for her age so we decided she needed to be in pre-school.  Mamaw got her the cutest back pack and all the things she needs for school.  I just don’t know what I would do without my Mamaw!!!

Michelle loves Humming Birds

Posted on

There is a Humming Bird feeder outside Michelle’s bedroom window.  She will sit by her window for hours watching the Humming Birds eat.  The first time she saw one, she thought it was a big bee and was afraid it would scare the birds away.  I explained that they were the birds and not a bee.  After that, she was hooked.

This is the first year I have ever had Humming Bird feeders and my grandmother told me that we have to take them in over Labor Day Weekend.  I didn’t know that.  She told me that the Humming Birds will stay here too long and not be able to get to where they go over the winter if I leave the feeders out for them.  I thought there might be others out there that didn’t know that either so hopefully this is helpful to some of you.  We do want them to be safe and return next year after all.

Hollywood full of new babies

Posted on

There are several new mothers in Hollywood but none quite as celebrated as Angelina Jolie and her twins.  I really don’t see what all the hoopla is all about.  People have babies every day only most of us have them the natural way and not the way she conceived her twins.  It’s nice to know that she has enough money to buy her own babies when she wants them but then to profit from it I think is just wrong.  Sure she’s famous and so are the baby’s father Brad Pitt but they’re people, ya know.  Human beings that put their pants on just like the rest of us, one leg at a time.  Well they probably have someone that dresses them, ya think??

Now she’s making news saying living in a house with six kids is chaos.  I bet there are at least 3 nannies there to help them too so how much chaos can it be?  Oh well, I just think all children should be celebrated and not just the ones that are born to a celebrity.

Randy Pausch

I’m sure most of you know who Randy Pausch was by now and probably know he died last Friday.  What a wonderful man.  If only there were more men in this world like him.  I can only hope that his love of life and his family will serve as a roll model to other men.  I sure hope so because he was one of those human beings that just left you in awe of his gentle, loving spirit.  The world truly lost a great man but our loss is minor compared to the loss his wife and three children face.  God love them!!!!
