When Is It Time to Replace Your Furnace?

Your furnace works hard for almost half of the year, and it’s too easy to forget about proper maintenance and replacing it when it’s time. The last thing you want is to have to replace a furnace in a hurry because it stopped working – although with 24/7 emergency service, even that is possible. Still, it’s better to watch for signs that it’s time to replace your furnace before it breaks down and leaves you in the cold for hours at a time.

When It’s Old or Wearing Down

Schedule a consultation with Belknap Heating and Cooling to take a look at your furnace if it’s been giving you any issues or is more than a decade old. If parts are wearing down and it’ll cost more to replace them than to buy a new furnace, it makes sense to upgrade. If it’s still operational but over a decade old, the newer models will prove much more efficient, which will save you money on your heating bills.

With tax credits, discounts and specials, the cost of replacing a furnace is likely to be far less than you imagine. Plus, if you shop once the cooler season is underway – particularly if you wait until late winter or spring – you’re sure to find even better discounts. At the very least, you need to arrange twice-a-year cleaning sessions with heating experts to keep your current system in top form.

House needs ‘something’

I live in a little house my Grandma had and is renting to me real cheap. I love it but it’s in need of some fixing up or fancying up I guess I should say. I really want to wallpaper the kitchen on two of the walls where the kitchen table is (I call it the dining area) and the bathroom needs new wallpaper too. I think the paper that is in there was put up in about 1900. I’m being serious because it looks like real old newspaper and the dates on it say 1900. It’s just plain and simply UGLY!! I gotta see if I can find a discount wallpaper site online. If you know of a good one, let me know. I bet Grandma knows of one because she seems to be able to find just about anything online.

Gobblins will be out tonight

Tonight is Halloween.  Poor Michelle still get’s a little scared of some of the costumes but I have told her over and over that they are just kids in the neighborhood and there’s absolutely nothing to be afraid of.  Mommy would never let anyone hurt her or take her anywhere anyone could hurt her. Then Frankenstein walks by and she’s hiding behind my legs.

Everything is all better once she hears the sound of candy hitting her pumpkin Trick-or-treat bucket. Then she’s ready to knock old Frankie down to get to the next door.  Kids are so much fun!  It’s a shame her  father can’t be here to see this but that’s his fault and not mine.

Had the day off

Well I had the day off yesterday, Michelle was at school and I decided to get started with the projects for the house that I wrote about earlier. I got the wallpaper put up in the living room. Man did it make a huge difference too. It looks great if I do say so myself. It’s got peach and pink colored flowers in it and it’s not a large print either. The background of it is sort of a creamy beige color. The leaves and vines in it are several shades of sort of a mossy green. It’s really pretty. I’m thinking of going with the mossy green in the leaves for the bottom under the chair railing. I think that would look real good.

I also went ahead and put up the ceiling fan myself. It wasn’t that hard to get up there. The whole living room looks so different. You should have seen Michelle’s eyes when she came home. She said ‘Mommy the living room looks so pretty. It was too cute. Hey, this is the ceiling fan I got. It goes great with the wallpaper.

Fixing up the house again

I’m back to fixing up the house a bit here and there. I went to Lowe’s yesterday and found a bunch of wallpaper, ceramic tile, and even a few discontinued ceiling fans all marked down really low. Guess what? I bought wallpaper for my kitchen and living room, a ceiling fan that already has the light on it for my living room and even got some ceramic tile for my bathroom. It’s all going to look great when I get it done. Grandma said my uncle has laid ceramic tile and would come help me do it myself. He’ll help put up the ceiling fan too. I can do it but why not let him do it, if you know what I mean.

In my living room there is chair railing and I’m going to put the wallpaper on the top and get some paint to go with it to paint the bottom part. I don’t know why I didn’t think to get it when I was there. I could have had them match it perfectly right then. Oh well, I’ll put the wallpaper up and then decide which color from it I want for the bottom. I’ll be sure and keep a large enough to piece to take back up there for them to match the color I want. It’s really cool how they do that. It’s technology wonderful!! Sure makes it easy to make a perfect match instead of just trying to find one of those paint cards to match it.
