Car seats have expirations and limitations. They are almost like a consumable product or one time use in a way. If a car seat in an accident, it fulfilled it’s duty of protecting your child. It is no longer safe to use. There can be tiny stress fractures that you can’t see that void the integrity of the seat.
Well, my daughter’s car seat has seen it’s glory days. Because it was in the accident we have to replace it. Luckily, the insurance company is paying to replace it.
We are going car seat shopping today. My neighbor has a child about the same size as my daughter. She is driving us to the store and the kiddo will sit in her son’s car seat.
I love the car seat we had and plan to get another one exactly like it. It’s easy to install and has great safety ratings. I did a ton of research before buying it the first time. I did a bit more last night and am pleased to say that our model is still my top choice even with newer models on the market.
I did not realize that a car seat in an accident must be replaced. Thanks for the info!
